40x40 is a juried exhibition of mixed-media self-portraits by 40 leading local/regional female artists over age 40. It is a companion art exhibit for the off-Broadway hit, Menopause The MusicalT currently on an open-ended run at the Gem. Congratulations to these outstanding artists! The 40x40 art exhibit debuted in 2003 in conjunction with the Orlando, FL., production of Menopause The MusicalT, and is a branch of the Women For Women (W4W) foundation, implemented by playwright/producer, Jeanie Linders. The foundation provides mentoring and/or financial support through a grant program to qualified women's organizations for women over 40. W4W also provides "If Only" awards to women over 40 whose life took an alternative path and who wish they could live one special dream."if only."
The Detroit exhibit is available for viewing October 15, 2004 - February 15, 2005. Five pieces will be selected to accompany the show to each major market on its ongoing tour. For instance, the chosen Detroit canvasses will join the artwork of Chicago, Orlando and Los Angeles artists for future shows.
